Well, we did it. We drew all 104 winning numbers on December 27, 2010 at Spencer's Lawn & Produce. Three ticket buyers showed up to watch and take part in the drawings. We stuffed 52 envelopes with two winning numbers each and placed those sealed envelopes in the gun safe at Sportsman's Warehouse. Check back here each Saturday evening throughout 2011, starting on the 8th, to see the winning calendar numbers for that week. Each Saturday, from January 8, 2011 through December 31, 2011, we reveal the winning numbers contained in that week's envelope, 52 sets of two winners.
Here are some fun facts about the raffle outcome. Assume the winning numbers are ordered either largest-to-smallest or vice versa.
- One lucky winning number was drawn twice. That is our only multiple winner.
- There are seven instances where adjacent winning numbers differ by one.
- There are also seven instances where adjacent winning numbers differ by five.
- The largest difference between adjacent winning numbers is 87, and that occurred only once.
- The second largest difference between adjacent winning numbers is 79, and that also occurred only once.
- There are five adjacent winning numbers that differ by 14 and also five that differ by 15. There are four that differ by 19 and also four that differ by 20.
- The average difference between adjacent winning numbers is 19.33 and that statistic has a standard deviation of 17.17.
- If you plot the distribution of these differences, you get a remarkably smooth graph of the well known exponential probability distribution. That is the same class of distributions that govern intervals between telephone calls, emission of gamma rays from radioactive substances, population growth, and similar processes. You don't have to be a geek to see the beauty in this.
- $50K in 104 prizes (103 assorted guns plus 1 24-gun safe)
- A strict limit of no more than 2000 calendar raffle tickets were sold.
- Proceeds will fund grants for range improvements and shooting programs throughout Colorado.
